Happy holidays!
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 27, 2018 at 01:54:35 PM

Heyo Sainomers!

It's been almost a month since our last update, so we thought we'd check in with you all and let you know what's been happening behind the scenes.

For starters, mass production started a few weeks ago and copies are set to leave China the middle of next month! So we're on track and are expecting to get the shipments in early(ish) February!

Secondly, we thought it'd be the perfect time to show off the alternate card art for Treasure Search! For those that recall, this was one of our stretch goals, and we're super excited with how the art turned out. It's absurd in the best way possible.

Anyhow, that will do it for today's update! If you have any questions or care to just drop a "Hahahaha" at the hilarity of Treasure Search's alternate art, do feel free to drop said questions/comments in the comments section below.

Until next time, Sainomers!

Happy holidays!

Post-Campaign Update No. 12: Digital Samples and Mass Production
over 5 years ago – Fri, Nov 30, 2018 at 01:56:37 PM

Hello Sainomers!

For starters: we hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving (those who celebrate it) and an exciting Black Friday (those who didn't get trampled to death whilst trying to snatch up all those holiday shopping deals)! That being said, let's get down to business, shall we?

It's been a little bit since our last update, but today we bring good news! We received our digital samples from the manufacturer this week and are excited to show them off! Below are several images we took of some of the game's various components. We are absolutely thrilled with how they turned out and can't wait to get the real thing in just a few months' time. Do keep in mind that these are digital samples, though; so the quality of the actual components are not reflective of what the final product will be like, obviously. So if colors are a little off or saturated in some instances, you can completely write that off to the digital printing process and thus will not be the case for mass production copies.

Speaking of mass production: it begins next week! That's right, Sainome is about to officially hit the printers! Mass production commencing next week means the games will leave China in January and is expected to show up at our fulfillment center in mid-February, putting us right on target for our intended release window. Of course, as we get closer, we'll be able to nail down an even tighter window for when you can expect your copy.

That will do it for today! Be sure to check out the images below!

Until next time, Sainomers!

Cheers,

Bradly & the LionWing Team

Post-Campaign Update No 11: Streaming, Digital Samples, and In-store Demos
over 5 years ago – Fri, Nov 09, 2018 at 12:32:36 PM

Hello, Sainome fans!

Welcome back to another campaign update! We've got quite a bit of news to get to today, so let us jump right in!

For starters, if you've been following us on social media, then you've likely seen the posts about us setting up space to stream Sainome. We are hoping to have everything set up within the next few weeks, which will allow us to stream before 2018 is through. Streaming tabletop games takes both good equipment and a certain degree of finesse to effectively capture on camera all the right player actions and game components, so we've been experimenting with what does and doesn't work. We're almost there though, so be on the lookout for the stream soon! We'll announce the day and time here and on social once we're ready to go.

Next: we have just approved our digital printing samples and should be receiving them in the mail sometime in the next two weeks. There was a slight hiccup in this process as the printing company misunderstood which side of the Character Cards was to have the holofoil effect printed on them, and thus it's delayed us getting the samples by a little over a week. Fortunately, this issue was caught quickly and remedied even faster and will not affect when you all get your copies. Again, we built in extra time in our production timeline schedule to account for small glitches such as this. That said, once we have the digital samples in hand, we'll be posting some photos for you all to see what the final product will look like!

Lastly: once we have the digital samples in hand, we'll be doing some game demos in and around Cincinnati. If you live close to southwestern Ohio and want to drive in to play the game with us at various game shops around the city, drop us a message or hit us up on social media/Discord. We'd love to meet you all, and this is an opportunity to do just that. Of course, if you can't, no worries—we'll be at conventions throughout 2019, so you'll get an opportunity to meet us/chat with us then.

Well, that will do it for today's update. We'll be back soon with another installment in our Character Spotlight series, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Until next time, Sainomers!

Cheers,

Bradly

Post-Campaign Update No. 10: Character Spotlight Series: Beautiful Veiled Bride | Foreign Princess
over 5 years ago – Fri, Oct 26, 2018 at 10:06:37 AM

Welcome backer, Sainomers, to another entry in our Character Spotlight feature! Today, we're continuing the trend of looking at the fighters that make up Sainome's character roster and identifying their many strengths and limitations.

As a recap: it’s important to note that each fighter in Sainome Colosseum R comes with their own short backstory as well as their own unique abilities and attacks. Moreover, each character has a Normal Form and a heightened Awakened Form. The latter form is an ultra-powerful version of the character that they can transform into once certain conditions have been met; this form allows them to utilize a brand new set of powers to really lay down the hurt on their opponent.

Today we’re revealing the abilities of the game's primary antagonist in the story: the Beautiful Veiled Bride/Foreign Princess. Below you’ll see both of her Forms' abilities.

Normal Form (on the left) | Awakened Form (on the right)
Normal Form (on the left) | Awakened Form (on the right)

Starting with the character's Normal Form, the Beautiful Veiled Bride, we can see that the Hero, while not loaded up with combat options, has a really good chance to inflict extra damage with the roll of a 6 via the skill Mysterious Aura. Since Mysterious Aura is always in effect, there's a 16% chance that each die roll will hit a little harder, which is amazing when thinking about how Mysterious Aura requires no activation. This skill in and of itself makes the Veiled Bride a pretty solid Normal Form fighter. What also makes the Veiled Bride a threat is the assignment of her attachment slots. As you may have noticed, the dice on the top, bottom, and sides aren't the usual 2-pip, 3-pip, 4-pip, 5-pip setup like they have been for many of the other Heroes. Instead, she has two 4-pip slots and two 5-pip slots. This is important to know because any pips on a Hero's card that match the pips of the die roll result are activated at the same time. So if a 4 is rolled and the player has attached equipment in those particular slots, both cards will be activated simultaneously. This can absolutely wreck opponents since you're essentially attacking twice in a single turn.

That being said, the character's true potential comes from her Awakened Form, the Foreign Princess. Because both of her skills Sinister Smile and Backup Plan are always in play—much like Mysterious Aura—players are likely to not only hit extremely hard when they successfully land an attack but even deal damage when they miss. So like her Normal Form, the Foreign Princess can attack multiple times at once thanks to having two sets of matching icons (the star and triangle slots). This, again, means that she can put up some big damage numbers in a single turn. What's even better, though, is: if players don't roll the numbers matching those assigned to the star and triangle slots, they're still going to inflict 2 damage thanks to Backup Plan.

Thus, it's easy to see that this character is just straight up awesome. Her biggest downsides are needing to be almost KO'd in order to flip into Awakened Form as well as not possessing any true aggressive abilities in her Normal Form, which is the Form in which she'll spend much of the match. Fortunately, being able to activate two cards at once saves her Normal Form from being too weak or limited.

Well, that'll wrap up this entry in our Character Spotlight series! As always, if you have any questions or comments for us about the characters as we go along, don't hesitate to hit us up on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Discord, or in the comments section below.

Until next time, Sainomers!

Post-Campaign Update No. 9, Character Spotlight Series: Novice Ninja | Blue Werewolf
over 5 years ago – Fri, Oct 12, 2018 at 03:16:59 PM

Welcome backer, Sainomers, to another installment in our Character Spotlight feature! When Sainome's campaign was live, we were running a weekly series that looked at one of the game's fighters and identified some of their strengths and limitations. We picked back up this series two weeks ago, and today we're bringing you yet another entry!

It’s important to note that each fighter in Sainome Colosseum R comes with their own short backstory as well as their own unique abilities and attacks. Moreover, each character has a Normal Form and a heightened Awakened Form. The latter form is an ultra-powerful version of the character that they can transform into once certain conditions have been met; this form allows them to utilize a brand new set of powers to really lay down the hurt on their opponent.

Today we’re revealing the abilities of the game's clandestine ninja character: the Novice Ninja (Normal Form) and the Blue Werewolf (Awakened Form). Below you’ll see both Forms' abilities.

Normal Form (on the left) | Awakened Form (on the right)
Normal Form (on the left) | Awakened Form (on the right)

The Novice Ninja has two abilities, Wooden Doll and Secret Art - Transform. Wooden Dool is very obviously a great Normal Form ability to have and we'd dare say one of the strongest Normal abilities in the game, if not the single strongest. After all, damage denial is great in Sainome as it allows players the time to draw the necessary cards for their intended strategy. If nothing else, Wooden Doll is a great postponement skill, giving you the time to evaluate your opponent's strategy and plan an effective counter to it. To that end, Secret Art - Transform complements Wooden Doll well in that both abilities are based around taking control of your strategy by deciding the timeline of the match rather than have that timeline dictated for you by either the luck of the draw or your opponent's abilities and attacks.

Once awakened, the Blue Werewolf is a challenging dude to square off against. Wind Shuriken effectively grants him the chance to attack twice and Secret Art - Shadow Clone gives him the opportunity to take a second turn—a skill no other hero in the game posseses. Shadow Clone, coupled with Wind Shuriken, can be a friendship-ending combination because when played together. Lastly: you may have noticed that the Blue Werewolf doesn't have a de-awakening skill. Unlike many of Sainome's other heroes, once you awakened as the Blue Werewolf, there's no going back. That's right: for the rest of the game, you're in straight beast mode (pun intended). Thus, the Novice Ninja/Blue Werewolf is a character of many firsts. To that end, the question becomes "Who is this character for?" The answer to that is easy: ANYONE. But especially newbies. This is without a doubt the easiest character to learn and play well. It allows players to hold their own while they learn the game, and can be a downright tyrant when played by someone who's intimately familiar with the ins and outs of each fighter.

And that'll wrap up this entry in our Character Spotlight series! As always, if you have any questions or comments for us about the characters as we go along, don't hesitate to hit us up on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Discord, or in the comments section below.

Until next time, Sainomers!
